  • Reactive lesion caused by local irritation
  • The mineralized product probably has its originates from periosteum or periodontal ligament
  • Occurs exclusively on the gingiva
  • Color ranges from red to pink
  • Surface is ulcerated
  • Predominantly a lesion of teenagers and young adults, with peak prevalence between the ages of 10 and 19
  • Can cause migration and loosening of adjacent teeth
  • Treatment: local excision and removal of source of irritation. Recurrence rate of 8% to 16%.
