- AKA: Giant Cell Epulis
- Reactive lesion caused by local irritation or trauma
- Found exclusively on the gingiva or edentulous alveolar ridge, presenting as a red or red-blue nodular mass
- Although a soft tissue lesion, can cause “cupping” resorption of underlying alveolar bone
- overlying mucosa is ulcerated in 50% of cases
- Firmer and not as red as pyogenic granuloma
- Treatment: local excision and removal of source of irritation. 10% recurrence rate.
