• AKA: Giant Cell Epulis
  • Reactive lesion caused by local irritation or trauma
  • Found exclusively on the gingiva or edentulous alveolar ridge, presenting as a red or red-blue nodular mass
  • Although a soft tissue lesion, can cause “cupping” resorption of underlying alveolar bone
  • overlying mucosa is ulcerated in 50% of cases
  • Firmer and not as red as pyogenic granuloma
  • Treatment: local excision and removal of source of irritation. 10% recurrence rate.
