Transseptal fibers: extend interproximal over the alveolar bone and embed in cementum of adjacent teeth

Alveolar crest: extend obliquely from the cementum to the alveolar crest

Horizontal fibers: attach to the cementum apical to the alveolar crest fibers and run perpendicularly from the root of the tooth to the alveolar bone

Oblique fibers: run from cementum in an oblique direction to insert into bone coronally

Apical fibers: radiating from cementum around apex of root of bone, forming base of socket

Interradicular fibers: found at the furcation of a tooth root and attach from the cementum to the alveolar bone.
