Systemic Steroids

Adrenal suppression occurs when a patient receives longterm exogenous steroids of >10mg/day
Takes ~3 months to recover function
Minor surgery – 25mg hydrocortisone;
Major surgery – 100 mg hydrocortisone daily for 2-3days
